Paolo Di Canio

Born in Rome, Paolo started his career with hometown club Lazio before securing a huge move to Italian big-guns Juventus in 1990.

He went on to win the UEFA Cup with the Turin club before joining Napoli and then AC Milan, where he won the Serie A title in 1996.

After a spell with Celtic in Scotland, Paolo joined Sheffield Wednesday and then West Ham United under Harry Redknapp.

Paolo was (and stillis!) a much-loved figure in East London and he enjoyed some of his best football during his spell at Upton Park.

He returned to Lazio in 2004 to help his hometown club, who were struggling financially, and retired from playing in 2008.

He was appointed manager of Swindon Town in 2011 and led the club to the League Two title the same season.

Despite being one of the most gifted and talented players to emerge from Italy, Paolo was, incredibly, never capped by the national team.
