Paul Merson

Arsenal legend Paul made more than 300 appearances for the Gunners between 1985 and 1997 having come through the youth ranks at Highbury.

A key member of the team managed by George Graham, Merse collected a whole host of honours with Arsenal before moving to Middlesbrough in 1997.

A spell with Aston Villa followed, before Merse linked up with Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth in 2002, securing the south coast side's promotion back to the Premier League in the same season.

After three years with Walsall between 2003 and 2006, Merse retired from playing.

He played 21 times for England, including appearing at the 1992 European Championships and scoring a penalty in the quarter-final shootout defeat to Argentina in 1998.

Since retiring from playing, Merse has been a regular on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday and also as a pundit during Premier League live coverage.

He writes a weekly column for the Daily Star and has spoken openly and bravely about how gambling and mental health issues have affected his life.
